Funeral services for Kelly Halstensgard of Greenbush, MN and formerly of Roseau, will be held on Thursday, August 11th at 11 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at Helgeson's. Interment at the Pinegrove Cemetery.
Kelly Richard Halstensgard was born on May 11, 1970 in Crookston, MN to Sue (Nephew) and Richard Halstensgard. He grew up in Rindal, MN before moving with his family to Greenbush, MN in 1987. He graduated from Greenbush High School in 1988, where he competed in wrestling and football, and also played drums in the band. He worked at Marvin Windows after graduation, then Polaris Industries where he met Tracy Gunderson. They were married 16 years.
Kelly was a hard worker who always strived to make a good life for his family. He was a “jack-of-all trades,” working for the City of Roseau, barbering, farming and driving truck. He enjoyed hunting, working on cars for demos and racing, and most of all… spending time with his family and friends. He made friends wherever he went. Kelly was a kind person and a great friend, always willing to lend a helping hand. Beyond that, Kelly was an amazing father. His boys were the highlight of his life. He was so proud to teach them about hunting, cars, how to fix things, to work hard and to never give up!
Kelly passed away on August 6, 2016 at the age of 46. He is survived by sons, Tanner Jungberg of Towner, ND, Alex Halstensgard and Dan Halstensgard both of Roseau; parents, Richard and Sue Halstensgard of Greenbush, MN; siblings, Tim (Carrie Saurdiff) Halstensgard of Warroad, and Deann (John) Anderson of Warroad; former wife and friend, Tracy Halstensgard of Roseau; in-laws, Dennis and Judy Gunderson and many family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11th at 11 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 sharing time at Helgeson’s. Interment is at the PineGrove Cemetery south of Roseau.
