Joy passed away on July 14, 2016 at Lakewood Health Center in Baudette, MN at the age of 60.

In remembrance of a dear wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Joy Ann Julia Harris, born on the 20th August 1955 to Ms. Carmen Harris, was truly a blessing to all.

Joy was the second eldest daughter of three sisters and two brothers. She grew up in a little town called Princetown , Berbice, Guyana where she attended high school. Joy also took typewriting and sewing classes on the side and was very good at it.

During her younger years Joy had her first son Ray Stewart. As Ray grew older Joy decided she needed a change and so moved to a bigger town to get a fresh start in life and in search of work. Joy settled down in the countryside called West Coast Demerara, Guyana, where she found work in the capital close by. She worked for the Water Work Company of Guyana as a secretary for many years. By this time Joy had extended her family by having two more children, Gregory Da Silva and Christina Da Silva/Matthias.

Family was always very important to Joy, so after awhile she quit her office job to be a stay-at-home mom, and she picked up sewing as a means of income and started the business right from home. Joy became very famous for her creative and neat work in sewing clothing; word spread quickly and Joy became the leading seamstress in her town. She could have made anything  your heart's desired from wedding dresses to children's clothing and many more.

As years passed, Joy decided to join her children in the United States and so in the year 2010 Joy came to America. She spent a few months in New York with her son then headed to Minnesota to enjoy life and be close to her daughter and grandkids.

After working for the ODC in Roseau, Joy met Clarence Lichtsinn, fell in love and in the year 2014 got married. Joy & Clarence (Shorty) lived a happy, quiet life in Warroad, MN for two years before the good Lord called her home.

Joy loved God and loved being in church and was a faithful member of Warroad Community Church.

Joy is preceded in death by her son, Gregory Da Silva, and two sisters, Judy and Ilse Harris.

She is survived by her mother, Carmen Harris, husband, Clarence Lichtsinn, brother, Clement Harris, two children, Ray Stewart and Christina Matthias; grandchildren Julisa, Jordyn and Jazmine Matthias, Cheyane and Razon Stewart, daughter-in-law Dorecka Stewart, son-in-law Rydell Matthias, close friends Ms. Violet Matthias, Ms. Megan Ford; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joy would be sadly missed by her mother, husband, children, grandchildren, the Matthias family, Hope family and many other friends.

The family would like to acknowledge all the heartfelt prayers and condolences sent by everyone.

May her soul rest in the hands of the Lord forever amen.
