Elmer Erickson passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 92.

Elmer A. Erickson was born to Edward and Marie Erickson on August 1, 1923 in Ross Township, Roseau County, Minnesota.  He married Dorothy "Lenore" Bergstrom on October 17, 1946 in Roseau.

Elmer graduated from Roseau High School and the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, Minnesota. Elmer spent a year in Kansas working for TWA and served in the   U. S. Navy from 1945-46. After returning from the service, he worked at the John Deere Company, Sjobergs Department Store and Dorwart Motor Co. - all in Roseau. Elmer spent thirty-five years working in the insurance industry as a salesman for State Farm Insurance for five years and Federated Mutual for thirty years.  Elmer retired in 1986 to enjoy his hobbies of fishing, golfing, dancing, cooking and farming. He was an active member of the Lions Club, American Legion and VFW. He will be well remembered for his fish fries and authentic delivery of Ole and Lena jokes. His famous fish fry had a batter made with beer, salt and a lot of pepper. Everyone that sampled his fish fry was a fan for life. Elmer’s charming personality and positive outlook on life made him a favorite for family, friends, and all that knew him. He will be missed by many!

Elmer is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years Lenore, and their sons Dale (Gail), Chuck (Anne) and Tom (Brenda), their grandchildren Rion Erickson (son of Dale), Ashley Erickson Lieser (Wes) and Shelby Erickson daughters of Tom.  Elmer was the last surviving sibling of his immediate family – the generation that is known as the “Greatest Generation”. His brothers were Selvin, Edgar and Clarence. His sisters were Myrtle, Connie, Mildred and Erna. Elmer’s sons and their families, twenty one nieces, nephews and their families proudly remain committed to the legacy of the generation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Roseau American Legion or Oakcrest Senior Housing.
