Lyle E. Wright

A Funeral Service for Lyle E. Wright of Warroad, MN will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 7-9PM at Helgeson Funeral Home with a family serivce at 8:30PM. Visitation will also be held one hour to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Warroad, MN. Military rites by the Warroad American Legion.

Lyle E Wright was born August 11th, 1932 near Vang, ND to Curtis and Mable Wright. He went to Country School in Pembina Hills near Walhalla, ND then moved into Walhalla and attended the Walhalla school through 10th grade. The family then moved to the Warroad area where Lyle graduated from Warroad High School in 1952. He then entered the military in 1953, where he served two years in the Army Signal Corp. He married Joyce Severson, his high school sweetheart on October 18th 1953.The two made their home in Warroad where they raised their 5 children. He was employed by Richardson Construction, Roberts Hardware, the City of Warroad and Fish Electric.

Lyle was an active member of Zion Lutheran church, a member of the American Legion, as well as a volunteer fireman and EMT. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed numerous camping trips to the Boundary Waters with his sons, grandsons and sons in law. Lyle was always a do-it-yourselfer doing all types of repairs, recycling old items into new, especially his 3 wheeled bicycles. He developed a hearty interest in woodworking and built several pieces of furniture for the home and family. His interests later turned to clocks and their various designs; he built replicas of everything from simple old style school clocks to intricate mantle and Coo-coo clocks. He is well known throughout the Warroad community for the hundreds of crosses he crafted and gave away across the area.

Lyle passed away peacefully at the age of 82 at the Warroad Care Center on March 23rd at 10:30am in the morning. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 61 years and 5 children: Laurence (Avis) Wright of Warroad, MN; Lorraine (Gerald) Kukowski of Badger, MN; Delwin Wright of Superior, WI;  Diane (David) Stusynski of Strainquist, MN; Lila O'Rouke of Blackduck, MN; his sister Verna Gunnerson of Hallock, MN; this brother Alvin of Warroad, MN; his 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Larry and brother Wilbur; his granddaughter Shannasey O'Rouke.
