Funeral services for Kenneth Mortenson of rural Roseau will be held on Saturday, January 23rd at 11 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Beaver Cemetery in rural Roseau.
Kenneth Leroy Mortenson passed away on January 17, 2016 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND at the age of 82.
Kenneth was born on December 17, 1933 on his family farm in Beaver Township of Roseau County to Signe (Carlson) and Theodore Mortenson. He attended school through the eighth grade in Beaver Township. He worked at Boise Cascade in International Falls for a few years before returning to the Pencer area to farm small grains. In addition to farming, Kenneth worked in the woods logging for many years. He enjoyed his work on the farm. He also repaired machinery for his friends in the area.
He enjoyed reading and genealogy research. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others. He was also on the Beaver Cemetery board for many years.
Kenneth is survived by his siblings, Merlin (Lucille) Mortenson of Roseau, Romane (Judy) Mortenson of Warroad, and Junetta Morrissette of Chaska, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Adolph, Gordon, Dora, Naomi, Donna and Bennie.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be one hour prior with interment at Beaver Cemetery.
