Memorial services for Edmund "John" Vickaryous of Warroad, MN will be on Tuesday, February 9th at 10 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad. Visitation will be one hour prior, with Military Honors by the Warroad American Legion. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring.
Edmund T. “John” Vickaryous passed away peacefully on February 5, 2016 at the Warroad Senior Living Center at the age of 83.
John was born on May 12, 1932 in Warroad, MN to Isabelle (Carpenter) and Edmund V. Vickaryous. He grew up and went to school on Oak Island, MN in Northwest Angle of Minnesota. His family moved to Warroad, MN, before he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. He and Maxine Harder were married in Warroad, MN and had six children. He moved to Alaska in 1957 and worked in the fishing boats and as a heavy equipment operator. He moved to Seattle, WA for a few years and worked for Seattle Truck & Tractor. He eventually moved back to Minnesota in 1965 where he owned and operated Northern Construction in Pine City, MN. He and Verdella Baltz were married. The last four years, he has resided at the Warroad Senior Living Center.
John was a very outgoing person, who loved to tell stories and jokes. He enjoyed his work and took pride in his jobs. He will be remembered for his laugh, his love of dancing and ability to fix any type of machine. Blessed be his memory.
He is survived by his children, Peggy Connelly of Wisconsin, Diana Harvey, Lanita Brandonberg, Laura Vickaryous and Marilyn Vickaryous all of San Diego, CA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia (Kenith) Cole of Warroad, David Vickaryous of Angle Inlet, MN, Denise Ellenson of Warroad, Virginia (Harvey) Kimble of Warroad and Mary Moyer of Warroad. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Glen; spouses, Maxine and Verbella; brother, Robert; brother-in-law, Allen Ellenson and sister-in-law, Bonnie Vickaryous.
