Sincere condolences to Miss Peterson's family in her loss. She was my fifth grade teacher at Alexander Baker School in International Falls in 1969-70 and also taught my brother John ten years earlier. I remember her with fondness. I didn't realize that she traveled from Baudette each week to teach us. She was a very dedicated professional who positively influenced many students over the course of her career. May she rest in peace.

Thank you for sharing your memories of my Aunt Doris. Since she taught in The Falls for so many years, it was important to me that her obituary be published in the International Falls paper, which is were I assume you saw it. I hoped that some of her former students would see it and remember her with fondness. It gives me comfort to know that has already happened.

Doris always impressed me a woman with true grit. She could and did do anything well. I would take my grandmother, Sarah, to Baudette and her first stop was always at the dusty pink with white trim home of Doris and Mae. Inevitably, they would be working in their huge, productive garden. The coffee pot was always on and the cookies were a-plenty! I am proud to have had Doris in my family. She was an inspiration!
