Memorial services for Delores Spina of Williams, MN will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Williams, MN. Interment will be at the Pine Hill Cemetery.
Delores Mae Brinkman was born December 15, 1928, the oldest daughter of Laurence and Violet Brinkman. Her family would move to many locations in western Minnesota as her father searched for available employment. For a time, Delores lived with her grandmother in East Grand Forks while attending high school. Her desire was to become a physical education teacher. Her family eventually settled north of Williams. It was during that time that she met James Spina. They were married in 1950. To that union were born three sons: Steven, Stanley and Stacy. (Guess she had a thing for the letter S.)
Delores held a variety of jobs over the years, but committed herself to being a stay-at-home mom. She was extremely active and became involved in church and community events. She was passionate about cooking and flower gardening. She also enjoyed bowling, card playing and reading.
Delores was a people person, known by the community and “Grandma Dee.” She was in her element when surrounded by family and friends. She sincerely believed “laughter is the best medicine.”
She leaves us with a legacy of loving and serving others, a positive attitude and loving the Lord. Until we meet again, rest in peace Mother Dear!
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; sister, Arlene.
She is survived by her sons, Steve (Janet), Stanley (Shelli), Stacy (Sharon); brother, Dennis Brinkman; grandchildren, Joab Spina, Hayley (Doug) Adam, James, Amanda and Katie Spina, Jessica (Chris) Stoltenberg, Josh Williams; great-grandchildren, Ava Mae Adam, Britnay and Dylan McCoy and Shelby Williams. Psalms 63:7-8: Because you have been my help, therefore in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows close behind you; your right hand upholds me.
Delores M. Spina of Baudette, MN passed away on November 19, 2014 at Lakewood Health Center of Baudette, MN at the age of 85.
Services for Delores Spina will be held in the Spring of 2015.
