Crous DeVilliers

June 16, 1982 ~ August 27, 2015 (age 33) 33 Years Old

A Funeral Service for Crous DeVilliers of Roseau, MN will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 2:00PM at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Crous was born on June 16, 1982 in Klerkhdorp, South Africa to Whitey and Alta DeVilliers.  He attended school in Bethlehem, and graduated from Voortrekker High School in 1999.

Crous came to the United States in June of 2006 on a work visa to farm for Gary Slater. In August, 2006 he met Tasha Kompelien and they started dating.  His work visa expired that November and he returned to South Africa.  The separation left Tasha heartbroken, so her parents bought her a ticket to go visit Crous and meet her soon-to-be family.  Crous came back to the U.S. in April of 2007 and he and Tasha were married that October.  Together they were blessed with three sons, Gaines, Gideon, and Gareth.

After the birth of their first child, Crous decided to leave farming and work at Polaris to provide for their growing family.  He worked there until the layoff, which gave him the opportunity to return to farming with Tony Brateng.  He was employed there until the birth of their second child and then returned to Polaris where he was currently employed as a welder.

Crous loved farming and working outdoors.  He loved to go swimming, especially with his boys.  He enjoyed the 4th of July and was like a big kid when it came to fireworks.  Crous loved his truck and spent a lot of time keeping it clean and shiny.  He also loved music and to play it loud and dance.  Though Crous moved to the U.S. to become a permanent resident he always had strong ties to his home and took great pride in his South African heritage.

Crous DeVilliers passed away on August 27.  He was 33 years old.

Crous is survived by his wife Tasha DeVilliers of Roseau; children Gaines, Gideon, and Gareth of Roseau; his father Whitey DeVilliers of South Africa; sisters Melitia (Karston) Williamson of Kansas, Idette DeVilliers of South Africa, and Thelma DeVilliers of South Africa.

Crous was preceded in death by his mother, Alta DeVilliers, and his grandparents.
