A Funeral Service for Colleen “Connie” Johnston of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Moe-Rose Cemetery in Roseau, MN.

Colleen (Connie) Johnston passed away on April 19, 2016 at the age of 82. She was surrounded by loving family and the amazing staff at the Warroad Senior Living Center, where she lived for the last three years. Connie was born on September 25, 1933 to Nettie and Edward Galusha in Rainy River, Ontario.

She grew up on a farm with her 13 brothers and sisters. It was here she learned to love God, life and family. This is also where she developed her strong work ethic that will later be passed on to her children, and grandchildren. Connie married on November 14, 1952 in International Falls, MN and they began their family. In 1968 after her divorce she moved herself and her 7 children to Roseau, MN where they began a new life. Connie worked many years at Marvin Windows in Warroad, she enjoyed meeting new people and liked to hear their stories and share her own. Connie was a determined strong loving single parent and an amazing role model for her children. She had a special place in her heart for each of her 14 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.

Connie was survived by her children, Pam (Paul) Martin of Ham Lake, MN, Mark Johnston of Roseau, MN, Kandace (Bruce) Pahl of Turtle Lake, SK, Dan Johnston of Roseau, MN, Dale (Ramona) Johnston of Roseau, MN, Kim (Rusty) Ruud of Winnipeg, MB, Tim Johnston of Crane lake, MN; brothers, Jerry (Judy) Galusha of Rainy River, Ont., Ken Galusha of Victoria, BC; grandchildren, Chad Martin, Cole Martin, Ben Johnston, Amanda Hinks, Jennifer Pavan, Angie Swanson, Jesse Johnston, Cody Johnston, Taylor Johnston, Stephanie Ruud, Katie Broten, Michael Johnston; great-grandchildren, Janessa, Ari, Mckenna, Abby, Hannah, Eva, Wyatt, Naomi, Amelia, Rose, Claire, Brooke. May God bless the memory of Connie and may we keep her in our hearts.
