William "Bill" Rey

Funeral services, following MN State Covid Guidelines, for Bill Rey of Roseau will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 2 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Visitation will be one hour prior.  Military Honors by the Roseau Memorial Honor Guard and interment will be at Spruce Cemetery in Roseau.  A video of the service is below this page.

William “Bill” Albert Rey passed away on December 12, 2020 at LifeCare Medical Center at the age of 89.

Bill was born October 25, 1931 in rural Pitt, MN to Walter and Alice (Brown) Rey. He grew up and attended school in the Baudette, MN area. He graduated from Lake of the Woods High School in 1949 and also graduated in 1960 from Aakers Business College in Grand Forks, ND. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. He was employed with Armour & Co in Grand Forks and also, he built apartments in the East Grand Forks and Grand Forks communities. He worked for Credit Bureau of Grand Forks and then in 1970 he purchased the Credit Bureau of Roseau. Also, he owned the Credit Bureau of Thief River Falls and the Credit Bureau of Crookston. Eventually he sold Thief River Falls and Crookston. He worked until his retirement in 2015. He enjoyed working and missed the contact with people after retirement.

He enjoyed going to Roseau Rams hockey games, reading, deer hunting and riding on his Ford tractor and Polaris Ranger.

He and Carol Naslund were united in marriage September 10, 1988 in Roseau and built their current home in rural Salol in 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Timothy Rey of Grantsburg, WI; and daughter, Laurie (Delmont) Fredricks of Ramsey, MN; sister, Dyan Rey, Grand Forks, ND; brothers, Donald (Agnes) Rey, Minot, ND and Walter (Nancy) Rey of Ohio; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews (and special nieces). He is also survived by special friends Bill and Barb Wojciechowski of Badger, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Meredith; brother-in-law Eliot Glassheim; sister-in-law, Arlene Brateng; nephews, Walter Rey, Jr and Kevin Brateng.
