William J. Shaugabay

A Mass of Christian Burial for William J. Shaugabay of Warroad, MN will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 2:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 5-8 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN. Interment will be held at a later date. 

     William "Bill" John Shaugabay was born May 19th 1950 at the Warroad Hospital to Richard and Frances Shaugabay. He passed away December 24th 2021 at the Roseau Hospital at the age of 71 surrounded by many family members. William spent most of his childhood in the Warroad area staying close to his brothers and sisters until he married his wife Janice (Walz) Shaugabay in 1988 and began a family of their own. William would go on to living in the Warroad area working jobs such at Marvins and lastly the Warroad Seven Clans Casino as a longtime security guard.

   William "Uncle Bill" was a HUGE part of the Shaugabay Family tradition of his favorite card game "31" with the entire family. As well as watching his cousin T.J. Oshie play Hockey on TV or going to the arenas watching all his nephews playing what he called "The Best Game Ever". William will be sorely missed not only by his many friends, MANY family and even strangers as he would never have but a smile on his face no matter where he was or where he was going.

   William was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Frances Shaugabay, brother "Tuney" Shaugabay, sister Margert "Peggy" Angus, Nieces Lynn Shaugabay and Lisa Molash, nephew Robert Munnell along with many other cousins and family members.

    He is survived by his wife Janice Shaugabay, daughter Crystal (Matt) Levin sons Rex (Kara) Harkness, William "Billy" Shaugabay and Bryan (Nicki) Shauagbay along with brothers Marvin "Feen" (Mary)Shaugabay, Donald Shaugabay, Gerald "Zeb" (Mary) Shaugabay,sisters Chris (Rodney) "Shaugabay" Hamlin and Evonne (Larry) "Shaugabay" Lane. Special nephew Mattew Shaugabay and Grandkids Liam, and Conner Levin and Ethan Bailey. 3 sister in laws and 4 brother in laws with extend family Jenna Lewis with grandkids Larissa, Kayla, Aaron, Sage and great grandson Tristian. With MANY neices, nephews, cousins and special care givers Jill Olson, Krystal Dahl, Shawn Donaski. And dear friends Dave, Tom, Jim, John, Zach
