Wade Lane Peterson, loving son, brother, uncle and friend passed away on August 26th, 2021 at the age of 43. Wade was born in Northwood, ND on June 24th, 1978 to Robert Peterson and Nancy Peterson (Thortsen). After completing kindergarten in Aneta, ND his family moved to Warroad where he later graduated from high school in 1996. Wade spent his adult years living in MN and ND. He was employed at Marvin Windows and Doors and worked alongside his uncle Mark farming in ND.

For those who knew Wade, he was the ultimate jokester, trickster, and creator of all things fun. Whether it was petitioning for recess to come back his senior year (200 signatures were obtained), gifting his nieces and nephews a 2 liter Mountain Dew for Christmas, or pranking others, Wade had a natural ability to make others laugh and bring fun into any situation. Wade had a tender heart and was a listening ear to many. He was a big brother to not only his three sisters, but to many others. Wade had a love for adventure and the outdoors.  He enjoyed snowmobiling, ice fishing, trips with friends to the boundary waters, bike riding, playing catch and board games, and spending time with family and friends. Wade was known for his spontaneous spirit and being a kid at heart. Wade had an eye for photography, and enjoyed capturing photos of nature and farm life in ND. He was an avid Viking and Twins fan, and enjoyed gathering family together for a very competitive fantasy football league. Wade was a strong man of faith and enjoyed bible studies with friends and jamming out to his favorite Christian rock bands. Wade had a genuine smile and heart of gold, and was loved by all who knew him. Most of all, he loved the Lord.

Wade ultimately lost his battle to mental illness. It is a silent epidemic that is not talked about enough. If talking about it, exposing it, and shouting it from the rooftops will help even one person find a way to talk about their pain and seek help, a life could be saved. If you know someone who is struggling, show kindness, be a friend, and most importantly have an openness to listen and let them know it is ok to ask for help. If you are someone who is feeling hopeless or confused, our family encourages you to ask for help. Know that you are loved and cared for.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Peterson; sisters, Tanya (Justin) Ferguson, Sarah (Caleb) Claeys, and Tami (Luke) Vossen; nieces and nephews, Ethan, Riley, Dru, Taylor, Camdyn, Carter, Piper, Molly, Charlotte, Callan, and Cohen; grandmothers, Phyllis Peterson and Theowen Thortsen; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Peterson; grandfathers, Harold Thortsen and Allan Peterson; aunt, Connie Cook and nephew, JJ Ferguson.
