Vivian Berger

Funeral services for Vivian Berger of Roseau, MN will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2018 at 10 AM at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau.  Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Interment will be at a later date at Hope Cemetery in Roseau.

Vivian Mary Ann Berger passed away on January 3, 2019 at the LifeCare Roseau Manor in Roseau, MN at the age of 97.

Vivian Bergstrom was born on October 5, 1921 to Ida (Carlson) and John Bergstrom.  Ida passed away in 1934 leaving her two children without a mother.  Vivian married Russell Berger on September 20, 1942 in Mankato, MN.  Russell served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Normandy, France shortly after.  They lived in Salem, OR and Grand Rapids, MN for a short time before settling in Roseau, MN.  Vivian worked as a waitress for a time, then staying at home to raise her children.

Vivian belonged to the VFW Auxiliary, the Rose and Moe Church ladies aide and was on the bowling league for many years.  She loved being in the woods, singing hymns and playing Bingo.  She also enjoyed gardening, picking wild berries and canning.  Pickles were one of her specialties.  She will be remembered as a very caring person.  She was always concerned for her kids and grandkids.  She never missed a Christmas or Sunday School program or birthday.  She loved taking pictures of all of her family.

Vivian is survived by her son, John (Ida) Berger of Sturgeon Lake, MN; daughters, Margaret (Jim) Peluso of Bismark, ND and Kathy Harren of Roseau; grandchildren, Jenny, Jeri, Katie, Mike, Chris, Vance, Kari and Angie; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles Bergstrom of Roseau.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russel in 2012; son, Robert in 2015; grandson, Travis Berger; sister, Vandla Tangen; and son-in-law, Alan Harren.
