Violet A. Svir

A Funeral Service for Violet A. Svir of Badger, MN will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Badger Creek Free Lutheran Church in Badger, MN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN with at devotional service at 5:00 PM. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Badger Creek Cemetery. 

Violet passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the age of 85.

Violet Ann Prefek was born February 14, 1934, to John and Mary (Horvath) Prefek at South Junction, Manitoba, Canada. At age three Violet and her family settled north of Roseau. At age 16 her family moved south of Badger.

 On December 15, 1962, she married John Svir of Badger and settled on the Svir family farm. They lived there until 1972. They moved into Badger where they raised three daughters. Violet enjoyed raising a big vegetable garden and flower beds. She also enjoyed Ranger rides. Violet was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.

 Violet is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Robert) Carnegie, Collen (Paul) Omdahl, Karen (Brett) Dole; two grandchildren, Andrew (Heather) Appel, Jessica (special friend Kory) Appel; two great-grandchildren, Lilian Violet and Kora Leigh; several nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, John and Mary Prefek; sisters, Elise (John) Nagy, Theresa (Joe) Kurucz; brother, Mike Prefek; grandson, Jonathan Leslie; several nieces and nephews.
