Vera J. Falk

Vera Jean Thingelstad Falk, 82, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, in Fargo, North Dakota, surrounded by her loving family.

Vera was born on July 29, 1942, in Pinecreek, Minnesota, to Carl and Mildred (Erickson) Thingelstad. She graduated from Roseau High School and went on to attend cosmetology school for two years. She dedicated 37 years of her life to caring for children as a daycare provider, touching countless young lives with her nurturing spirit and generous heart.

On July 6, 1968, Vera married the love of her life, Erling Falk, at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and partnership that lasted until Erling's passing in 2016.

Vera was a devoted member of both Pinecreek Lutheran Church and Moe Lutheran Church, where her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She shared her musical gifts by singing in church choirs and playing piano, bringing joy and worship to her community through music.

Her zest for life was evident in her deep desire to connect with others in every aspect of her life. She filled her days with coffee, lunch, and supper dates, always making time for family and friends. A devoted Roseau sports fan, she took great joy in following her grandchildren and daycare children in their athletic pursuits, cheering them on with pride. Wednesdays were especially dear to her, as she spent cherished afternoons playing cards with close friends. An accomplished baker, she was known for her delicious treats that brought people together and created lasting memories. Her warm, social nature and generous spirit made her a beloved friend to many and a treasured presence in the lives of all who knew her.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mildred Thingelstad; her beloved husband, Erling Falk; her sisters Clarice Nelson, Dorothy Eklund (Bob), and Marge Rognlie (Harold); and her brothers-in-law, Bob Carr and Harold Falk (Velda).

She is survived by her four daughters: Sandy Critelli (Merlyn Werner), Sherry Verbout (Dale), Susan Geroy (Jason Bertilrud), and Sara O'Connell (Bill); her eight grandchildren: Zach Critelli (Emily Gust), Jasmine Verbout (Jagger Johnson), Madison Huglen (Paul), Lindsay Crompton (Jacob), Nick Geroy, Maya Geroy, Dylan O'Connell, and Paige O'Connell; her great-granddaughters: Evelyn, Eleanor, and Adaline Crompton; her sister Jan Carr-Herseth (Ross); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Vera's legacy lives on through the countless children she cared for, the beautiful music she shared, and the love she poured into her family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering faith.

A Memorial Service for Vera J. Falk of Roseau, MN will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 2:00PM at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
