A Memorial service for Tara M. Halvorson will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11:00AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date.
Tara M. Halvorson 52, of Badger, MN died on Sunday, October 6, 2024 in Grand Forks, ND after a short battle with cancer. Tara Marie Schwickerath was born on July 10, 1972 to Gerald "Jerry" and Janet (Kuykendall) Schwickerath in New Hampton, Iowa.
Tara missed the last week of 4th grade when her family moved from Iowa to Hector, MN. Tara fondly recalled the story of shopping with her grandma Schwickerath at Liddle's Grocery store in New Hampton. When the cashier was told about Tara missing the last week of school, her response was "They must be smarter up there". Tara's family later moved to Eden Valley, MN. Tara graduated from Paynesville High School in 1990. She married Michael Halvorson on May 5, 2005 at 5:00 pm in Badger. Tara and Michael's family was complete with the birth of their son Kaden on June 21, 2006.
Tara loved to go to concerts and to travel. Her favorite place to go was "NOLA" (New Orleans, Louisiana). Tara worked in law enforcement offices, including the city of St. Cloud, MN, Wright County and Roseau County. Tara was a civil process clerk at the Roseau County Sheriff's Office.
Tara is survived by her husband Michael, son Kaden, mother Janet Schwickerath, sister Tess (Dave) , brother Tyler Schwickerath, mother-in-law Mary Halvorson, sister-in-law Michelle Reichert, nieces Keylee Schwickerath, Lauren and Annabel Reichert, nephew Brody Schwickerath, aunts Sherry (John) Wirkler and Ardell (John) Boyle, many special cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Gerald Schwickerath, infant brother Travis, grandmother Delores "Dee" (Kuykendall) Berns, grandfather Louis Schwickerath, grandmother Orella Schwickerath, father-in-law Robert Halvorson and aunt Carol Jirak,
