July 13, 1938 ~ December 21, 2022 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Obituary

Stanley Jon Kindzerski went to live with Jesus December 21, 2022. He was born October 20, 1938 in Scobey, Montana to John and Mary Kindzerski. He graduated from Scobey High as a celebrated football player. He went on to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he sang Bass in the Concert Choir. There he received a music education degree and later on a master’s degree at the University of Montana-Missoula.

Stan taught K-12 vocal music in Roseau for 38 years. Stan directed his choirs and ensembles to the highest marks and honors regularly in local state sponsored contests. Every spring he took his choir on the road and toured the region visiting other high school choirs culminating in music festivals at colleges such as St. Olaf, Concordia, and Bemidji State, as well as the Manitoba Music Festival in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Music Educators of Minnesota named Stan the Music Educator of the Year in 1969. Frequently, his choirs were so advanced he was able to cut records of their best performances, a practice unheard of at the time for high school level choirs. Former students still express their appreciation for having the opportunity to create classical choral music.

On December 28, 1968 he married Mary Ellen Goldberg. He is survived by; son, Jon (Lily) Kindzerski; daughter, Julie Kindzerski-Grey (Frank); 3 grandchildren: Mason, Emma, and Anya; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed his many friends in Roseau and Green Valley especially the friendships formed with the members while conducting the Desert Hills Chancel Choir for 5 years. He loved spending time with family and friends at his most favorite place in the world, the cabin he built on his island in Ontario. Fishing with friends and family was one of his favorite pastimes. The “Walleye Killer” rarely came home “skunked.” When fishing season ended he would always look forward to deer hunting with his son, Jon. When he wasn’t creating beautiful music, he would explore other outlets of creativity through beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.

After retirement, the K’s began living their “sun bird” life in Green Valley. The last 20 years living there has allowed Stan new and exciting opportunities for creativity and expressing his love of life.
