Shonda Kaye Hietala

A Memorial Service for Shonda K. Hietala, age 54, of Badger, MN, will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  There will be a Celebration of Life at Skippy Finns in Badger, MN following the service. 

Shonda Kaye Hietala, 54, of Badger, Minnesota, passed away on April 4, 2026, at Sanford ER in Fargo due to heart complications.

Shonda was born on August 17, 1971, in Virginia, Minnesota, to Lloyd “Skip” and Debbie (Cameron) Hietala. She made her home in Badger since 1973 and was a proud member of the community throughout her life.

She attended Badger High School and continued her education with two years at Virginia Junior College and studies at Northland Community and Technical College.

Shonda dedicated much of her life to serving others. She worked at State Farm Insurance in Roseau, served as an EMT in Roseau, and was involved in dispatch services with the Roseau Law Enforcement Center. She also worked at Digi-Key in Thief River Falls. Her work reflected her caring nature and commitment to helping those in need.

Above all, Shonda cherished her family. She especially loved spoiling her grandchildren and spending quality time with her loved ones. Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Cameron, and Grandma and Grandpa Hietala.

Shonda is lovingly remembered by her children: Alex, Victoria, Damian, Nathan, Maia, and Kaeden; 12 grandchildren; her parents, Lloyd “Skip” and Debbie Hietala; and many extended family members and friends.
