Russell W. Palm

Memorial services for Russell W. Palm of Roseau, MN will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 2 PM at First United Lutheran Church in Roseau.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with interment at Moe-Rose Cemetery in Roseau.  Military honors by the Roseau Memorial Honor Guard. Memorials are preferred to Relay for Life, Roseau.

Russell Palm passed away on June 26, 2021 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN at the age of 78.

Russell Wesley Palm was born on December 20, 1942 in Roseau, MN to Charles and Martha (Paulson) Palm. He attended school in Roseau and graduated from Roseau High School. In 1962 Russ joined the US Army, serving as a combat engineer until his honorable discharge in 1965. Russ started work at Prior Electric in Roseau as an electrician and appliance repairman, eventually becoming a Master Electrician. In 1977 he became part owner of the store. He retired in 2015.

Russ and Jane Paulson were married on September 25, 1965 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush, MN. They had three children - Russell Jr., Deann, and Darrin. He was a member of Moe Lutheran Church and First United Lutheran Church. He was always willing to help out with the church service or the radio broadcast, using his electrician’s talent, ushering, and working on the property committees.

Russ enjoyed traveling, camping, watching the grandkids’ sports, fishing, and grouse hunting. He was always willing to help anyone with anything, especially fixing his kids’ appliances. His most important job was taking care of Jane during her illness, especially the last three years. He did it with compassion and with no complaints right to the day she died. He kept her at home the entire time, which is what she wanted.

Surviving Russ are his children Russ Jr (Kathy) Palm of Elk River, MN, Deann (Jerry) Olson of Roseau, and Darrin Palm of Roseau; grandchildren Chris (Kylie) Olson of Hewitt, MN, Katie (Sean) Halverson of Maple Grove, MN, Corey Olson of Roseau, Zach Palm of Rosenberg, TX, Jacob Palm of Elk River, and Andrew Palm of Elk River; great-grandsons Anders and Henry Halverson; siblings, Linda (Marvin) Holter of Waroad, Gloria (Larry) Borgen of Greenbush, Shelia (Skip) Holter of Roseau and Raynard (Marilyn) Lundgren of Roseau. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; father, Charles, and mother and stepfather, Martha and Ambrose Lundgren; brother and sister-in-law Bob and Judy Palm, sister and brother-in-law Janet and Raymond Robb, sister Nancy Pellet, brother Jon Lundgren.

 The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of his family and friends who have prayed for dad over this past year. It meant a lot to dad and to us.
