Rolland Wesley Huerd

Rolland Wesley Huerd, age 82, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026. He was born on October 8, 1943, in Warroad, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Ann Huerd. After graduating from Warroad High School in May 1961, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sandra June Jaros, on July 28, 1962. Together they built a beautiful life and raised four children.

A devoted husband and father, Rolland spent his life working hard to support and provide for his family. When employment opportunities became limited in Warroad, he temporarily moved to Oregon for work before eventually returning home. Over the course of more than 61 years, he dedicated himself to serving both his family and his community. He spent 21 years with Textron/Polaris in Roseau, followed by 16 years at Marvin Windows in Warroad. He then spent 24 years greeting familiar faces and serving neighbors and strangers, many of whom became lifelong friends, at Holiday Gas Stations in Roseau, Warroad, and Baudette before retiring in January 2026.

Rolland was happiest when surrounded by his family and serving up a fresh brewed cup of “his Folgers Coffee.” He especially enjoyed making a quick trip “uptown” to the grocery store, where a simple errand often turned into visiting with everyone he met along the way. He loved putzing around in his yard, gardening, hosting backyard barbecues, and “back in the day” tending to his famous rotisserie chicken.

He was known by his family for his homemade fudge, always making sure to share a “few pieces” with each visitor during the holidays. Another cherished tradition was making homemade popcorn balls with his children and grandchildren. While the preparation was always taken very seriously, the delicious end result made it worthwhile and became a treasured family memory. During the holidays, Rolland also loved carrying on the tradition of a good old homemade Tom & Jerry. More than anything, he enjoyed sharing stories, laughter, and family traditions with his children and grandchildren, creating memories they will cherish forever.

Rolland was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ann Huerd; his beloved wife, Sandra; his brother, Gordon Huerd (Rosanne); his parents-in-law, John and Esther Jaros; and his brother-in-law, David Jaros.

He is survived by his children: Keith; Burdette (Michael III); Jodi; and Vincent (Ashley). He also leaves behind his ten beloved grandchildren: Dillion (Emily), Francesca, Dryden (Grace), Danika, Michael IV, Gavin, Lincoln, Diarra (Cameron), Adriana, and Hudson; and six precious great-grandchildren: Brooks, Karsyn, Elsie, Billie, Emersyn, and Brynnlee.
He is also survived by his siblings and in-laws: Larry, Edwin, Margaret (Ed), Elizabeth (Mike), Norine (Ted), and Lynn Jaros, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rolland’s life on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Warroad, Minnesota.

A private burial will be held at a later time. Memorials and remembrances may be sent to the family.
