Roger K. Peterson

A Funeral Service for Roger K. Peterson will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held on October 1, 2022 at Good Shepard Cemetery at the Northwest Angle.

Roger Kenneth Peterson was born December 17th, 1953 in Warroad, MN to Irene (Carlson) and Art Engdal.  After the passing of his father, Irene re-married Harold Peterson who adopted and raised Roger as his own.  Roger graduated from Warroad High School in 1972.  Roger’s early years were spent working road construction, operating heavy equipment, and also owning his own logging company where he enjoyed working with many friends and family, especially his brother Doug.  During this time he also welcomed two daughters into the world, Laura and Rana.

In the mid-80’s, Roger met and fell in love with Janine Christianson.  They were married December 15th, 1984 and four children (Jacob, Bradley, Torina, Nicholas) were born and raised from their union.  They lived in many parts of Northern Minnesota, putting down roots in Greenbush, MN in the mid-90’s.  Roger’s passion was operating heavy equipment, both in the construction and logging industries.  There was no finer Operator.  His children referred to him as “The Legend”, which he both loved and despised.  He especially enjoyed doing these things with his family.  He spoke frequently about how proud he was to work with his kids. Working with and providing for his family was the most important thing to him.  Everything Roger did was for those he loved.

He is survived by his children, Jake (Brittany) Peterson, Brad (Teri Vetsch) Peterson, Tori Peterson, Nick (Mcaulli Berns) Peterson, Rana (Bill) Wirtzberger, sister-in-law Joan Peterson, sister Vicki (Tom) Berner, brother Kirk (Colleen) Peterson, grandchildren Shanya, Willy, Skyla, Jack, and great grandson Creed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janine, father Art, parents Harold and Irene, his brothers Brian and Doug, and his daughter Laura.
