Per Richard's request, private services will be held for Richard "Mickey" G. Horner of Warroad, MN. Full military honors will conducted by the Warroad American Legion and V.F.W.; with final interment at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. No gifts or memorials are preferred.
Richard Gene Horner passed away September 24, 2020 at the Warroad Senior Living Center in Warroad, MN at the age of 87.
Richard was born on August 13, 1933 in Roosevelt, MN to Catherine (Price) and L.F. Horner. After graduation, he started his career in the U.S. Air Force, that lasted for over 20 years; serving in the Korean War and two stints in the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge in 1971, he managed a gas station in Universal City, TX for several years before returning to Warroad in 1978. Richard worked as a truck driver for many years with North Star Trucking, Marvin Windows and Doors and Heatmor. After his retirement, he helped his family with farming, as well as enjoyed his person time bird watching, gardening and driving around the neighborhood in his Gator.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Margarite; brothers, Donald, Wesley and Robert; son Bobby; and his special pet basset hound, Mooki for many, many years. He is survived by his brother Doran; daughters, Susan and Marina; grandchildren Jennifer, Tanya, Sarah, Jason, Mark Jr. and Katie; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews; and great-great-nieces & nephews. He was loved by many!
