Rhoda Hokanson

A Funeral Mass for Rhoda Mae Hokanson of Apple Valley and formerly of Warroad will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warroad, MN.  Visitation will from 5-7PM on Friday, October 29 at Helgeson's Funeral Home in Warroad. Interment will be at St. Mary's cemetery.

Rhoda Mae (Huerd) Hokanson, 102, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Augustana Care Center in Apple Valley, MN.

Rhoda was born in Warroad on September 24, 1919. She married Alvin Hokanson on November 1, 1939, and they raised two children, Bonnie and Gary. Rhoda spent her entire life being a homemaker and caretaker. She worked at various restaurants in Warroad, and later after the death of her husband, she nursed her two sisters until their deaths from cancer. When she left Warroad, she lived with her daughter, Bonnie, for 28 years spending summers in Apple Valley and winters in Arizona. Her “mothering” extended to her many nieces and nephews who were very fond of her. Also she was very interested in and devoted to her five grandsons.

Rhoda is survived by her son, Gary (Barb), and her five grandsons, Derek, Ryan, Aaron, David, and Paul as well as nine great-grandchildren – Evan, Johanna, Adelyn, Japheth, Ramsey, Parker, Cole, Brantley and Evianna.
