Pearl "Elvera" Kvarnlov Obituary

A private funeral service will take place for Elvera Kvarnlov of Warroad, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Pearl Elvera (Lindgren) Kvarnlov was born July 5, 1929, in Algoma Township, Salol, MN to Erick Agaton and Sella Lindgren. She was baptized and confirmed at Norland Lutheran Church and attended Sunnyside School – a one room school in Roseau County - through the 8th grade. She graduated in 1947 from Roseau High School and attended college in Thief River Falls to become a teacher. Her first teaching job was in Salol.

On June 4, 1949, Elvera married Kenneth Kvarnlov at Norland Lutheran Church in Salol. They lived for a short while in Roseau before moving to Warroad where they raised their five children- Kaydelle, Lyle, David, Susan, and Sandra. In 2009 she moved in to the new Warroad Senior Living Center and has resided there since.

Elvera and Ken were independent business owners which included a grocery store, a mink ranch, a clothing store, and a 40-year Shaklee business. She was also employed by Marvin Windows for 10 years.

Being a woman of strong faith she was active in her church. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Wings for many years at Zion Lutheran Church, was a member of Ladies Aid, the Alter Guild, the Memorial Committee, and a leader in the Zion Quilters Group.

Elvera was active within the community. She was a girl and boy scout leader, a member of the Warroad Area Community Center board, a volunteer for the Warroad Senior Living Center and the senior meals program. A particular love and interest was volunteering at the Special Olympics. Her community service was recognized in 2013 when she was honored with the One Woman award.

Elvera saw life with a warm and caring outlook and a strong sense of service to others. She was especially devoted to the interests and activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an ever present face of love and support and always had time to listen.

She and Ken enjoyed camping with family which took them exploring many places within the USA and Canada. They also enjoyed their trips to several foreign locations.

Elvera found joy in gardening, playing cards with friends and family, dancing with Ken and her grandchildren, driving around to see “what’s new” and enjoying a good cup of coffee. She and Ken also had great fishing adventures, with one “catch to remember” landing them on a TV sportsman’s show. She had great fun cooking with her grandchildren- teaching them to make Swedish pancakes, sweet buns, lefse, and krumkaka. In addition she spent untold hours making personalized scrapbooks for each of her children and grandchildren.

Elvera passed away peacefully on December 1, 2020, at the Warroad Senior Living Center with her loving family by her side. She was 91 years of age.

Elvera is survived by her children: Kaydelle (Denny) Kvarnlov-Leverty of St. Paul, Lyle of Warroad, David of Mendota Heights, Susan (Dino) McMillin of Warroad, and Sandra (Arden) Lamberson of Warroad.
