Patricia "Patsy" Hunter Obituary

Patricia “Patsy” Rita (von Ende) Hunter was born on March 17th, 1941 in St. Michael, MN to Albert and Laverna (Mastley) von Ende. She was the second oldest of seven children in her family. She attended Catholic school in Osseo, MN. Patsy passed away at the age of 80 at the Warroad Senior Living Center with family by her side.

Patsy married Donald Hunter on August 8th, 1963 in St. Francis, MN. They were blessed with four children. Donnie loved farming and worked for different farmers over the years, while Patsy devoted herself to caring for the home and the kids. After the children were grown she worked at several jobs until she started working at Marvin Windows in the Salvage area. She took a lot of pride in her job at Marvins and worked there for many years.

Patsy and Donny loved to go on trips to Montana and Wyoming on their motorcycle where they loved searching for gems and seeing the countryside. They enjoyed running around on their matching four wheelers during the summer and snowmobiles during the winter, always enjoying the time they got to spend together.  When they weren’t enjoying outdoor activities, Patsy loved to dance to all types of music:  waltzes, swing, polkas, schottisches, 50’s and 60’s, and more; and you would always find them dancing somewhere on a Saturday night. Always one for a great time, Patsy was known to let out a good yodel or a hoot and holler when she was having fun.

Patsy loved being a grandma and spending lots of time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and passed on her love of nature to her grandchildren through the many adventures she took them on. Sleepover weekends with grandma were filled with great snacks, movies and no rules!

Patsy loved animals. There were always cats and dogs around. She volunteered at the Lake of the Woods Humane Society in Baudette, MN. She loved to garden whether it be vegetables or flowers. Her yard in Roosevelt was full of flowers and life just as she was. Her favorites were lilacs and daisies, which flourished throughout the yard!

Patsy is survived by her children; Dr. Patricia “Trish” Hunter of Grand Forks, ND; James Hunter of Goodlettesville, TN; Timothy(Lorie) Hunter of Rothsay, MN; Michael (Michelle) Hunter of Warroad, MN; siblings Karen (Norman) Johnson of Plymouth, MN; MaryAnn von Ende of Ryderwood, WA; Anthony (Janet) von Ende of Ross, MN; Richard (Wendy) von Ende of Badger, MN; sister in-law Ramona von Ende of Corcoran, MN and sister in-law Susan von Ende of Phoenix, AZ. Last but not least she is survived by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donnie; her brothers Dexter von Ende and Donald von Ende; her parents Albert and Laverna von Ende.

A memorial service will be held for Patsy on  December 4th at 2:00pm at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau with a visitation 1 hour prior.
