Oren Anderson Obituary

Oren Iren Anderson passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 19, 2023 at the home of his daughter at the age of 91.

Oren was born on July 12, 1931 in Nereson Township to Dewey and Ruth (Severson) Anderson. He attended school and graduated from there. He worked on the farm with his dad and uncle until he joined the Marines.

He married Donna Welin on December 1, 1954. She went with him to North Carolina where he was stationed. Following his discharge he did a variety of jobs. But his love for farming brought him back to Badger, near the home place. He lived and farmed there the rest of his life.

Oren loved fishing and hunting; he hunted until he was 90 years old. He loved playing cards with family and friends and always enjoyed seeing and visiting with his grandchildren.

In later years, when Donna was gone he enjoyed going to the casino. He always had a puzzle going and put many together with the help of his children. The puzzles always had to be of farming or with cows in them. He loved watching birds and had a variety of feeders outside his kitchen window.

He looked forward to spring each year and the planting of his crops and putting in a garden which he so enjoyed. It also kept his kids busy – weeding and canning. He worked in the field right up until last year!! It was the thing he loved the best!! He was always optimistic. Next year will be better! We will miss him!

He is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Donald) Johnson of Roseau; sons Mitchell and Bryan of Badger; daughter Shelly (Les) Voll of Salol; grandchildren Dawn, Tommy (Jenn), Trevor, Bobby Jo, Misty (Jamie), Jared (Erin), Stephanie (Chris), Ashley (Jay) and Adam (Meagan); great-grandchildren Catie, Marissa, Hallie, Jake, Zackery, Ayden, Makayla, Ty, Cohen, Bobby, Lauren, Caelum, Tate, Kesleigh, Jasmin (Trey), Morgan, Mason, Madison, Jaden and Olivia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; parents, Dewey and Ruth; and siblings Marvin, Isabele, Gertrude, and Dorothy.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held this Spring at Norland Cemetery in Salol, MN.
