Oliver G. Jesme

A Funeral Service for Oliver G. Jesme of Warroad, MN will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 11:00AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 5-7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad with a prayer service starting at 6:30PM. Interment will take place at America Cemetery at a later date. 

Oliver George Jesme was born to George & Alma Jesme on May 10, 1937 in Skime, MN. He attended school in Skime, MN. He helped uncles Ole & Halver Dole on their farm during his younger years. This is where his love of farming began. When he was 16 years old he traveled to Drayton, ND and continued gaining more farming experience. He used his earnings to buy his dad a tractor. This exemplified his character and giving spirit. He was always willing to put others before himself.

Oliver met his wife Dorothy Storey at a barn dance in 1956 in Skime, MN. This sparked their romance that lead to 66 years of marriage, they were married on March 1,1958. They were blessed with 4 children: Gordon, Steven, Denise and Stacy. Oliver was an entrepreneur, and made his living excavating, hauling gravel, logging, farming and started his own Septic Tank pumping business. Oliver never had a retirement party because he actually never retired. He continued to farm until he was in his early 80's and his eyesight failed, so he

traded the Tractor for a Ranger and leased out his land. He continued to check the crops daily, riding on his ranger. His father-in-law Jack Storey said Oliver was always willing to help whenever you asked him, with a happy spirit. His grandchildren, nieces and nephews always knew that in the pocket of his shirt there would be a piece of hard candy that he would share with them.

Oliver passed away on January 7, 2025 in the Roseau hospital at the age of 87 years old, with his family surrounding him with all of their love.

Oliver is survived by his wife Dorothy of 66 years, his sons Gordon (Barbara) Jesme of McHenry, IL; Steven (Angie) Jesme of Dilworth, MN; Daughters Denise (Jack) Ganyo of Warroad, MN; Stacy (Ike) Isaacson of Healy, AK. Sister Joyce Strickland of Benson, NC and Sister-in-law MaryAnn Jesme of Roseau, MN and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. 12 grandchildren: Casey, Jamie, Katie, Krystopher, Zabrina, Jazmyn, Keyen, Emma, Bronson, Oliver, Danielle, Trevor and 3 great granddaughters, Atley, Ava and Gianna.

Oliver is preceded in death by: his parents George & Alma Jesme, 3 infant siblings, Brother Curtis Jesme and brother Donald Jesme, infant grandson Gaberial Jesme and son-in-law, Matthew Byfuglien.

Oliver (Ollie) was known for his willingness to always help others, his kind smile and his easy going attitude. One of his favorite things to do was to visit with his friends and family. He was always interested in what the kids and grandchildren were doing.
