A Celebration of Life for Mitchell D. Laurin of Warroad, MN will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 11-1 with a 1:00 PM service at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Mitch passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the age of 54.
Mitch was born in Duluth, MN and adopted at four months old by Gene and Betty (Fodness) Laurin on December 12, 1966. He grew up in Argyle, MN where he attended school, graduating from Argyle High School. Mitch attended school for a short time for carpentry before having to return home to work on the farm due to his father having a heart attack.
Mitch met Shelly Bodell and they had a son, Blake, in 1991. In 1997 he met Kerry Korgel. He helped raise her three daughters. They were married in 2018. Mitch worked at various jobs before becoming disabled in 2017 while working at Polaris Industries in Roseau, MN.
Mitch was a craftsman and was very handy, taking pride in everything he did. He enjoyed carpentry and loved to make bird houses. He also spent a lot of time working in his yard, gardening and tinkering. He also enjoyed baking. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Most of all he loved being a grandpa – the kids call him Pop-Pop.
Mitch is survived by his wife Kerry; children Blake (Kylie Brune) Laurin, Shawntae (Nick Fletcher) Holter, Shayla Holter, Shantel (Brandon Mostad) Holter; mother Betty Laurin; brother Randy (Susie) Laurin; grandchildren Zeno and Kade Laurin, Nevaeh, Gavin and JaCobie Fletcher, Jaxton and Kingston Holter; niece and nephew Brady and Jenna Laurin and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his father Gene Laurin and father-in-law Robert Korgel.
