A Funeral Service for Mildred H. Brosdahl of Greenbush will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 2:00PM at Pine Grove Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mildred Helen Brosdahl, age 97, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 30, 2025, at Lifecare Greenbush Manor, with her daughter Holly by her side.
Mildred was born on September 5, 1928, in Roseau County, Minnesota, to Michael and Regina Krzoska. She attended school at Falun District 112 and grew up learning the values of hard work, family, and caring for others, principles that guided her throughout her life.
On December 16, 1950, Mildred married the love of her life, Clifford Brosdahl, at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Halma, Minnesota. Together, they farmed for 13 years northeast of Halma before moving to Karlstad in 1969, where they continued to build a life rooted in family and community.
Over the years, Mildred held many roles within the local community. She worked as a janitor at Karlstad State Bank, prepared meals for children at Tri-County School, ran a daycare out of her home, and stocked shelves at Mike’s Hartz grocery store. No matter the job, Mildred was known for her dedication, kindness, and willingness to serve others.
Mildred’s true passion was baking and making sure no one ever left her home hungry. She was especially known for baking and decorating cakes for all occasions, from birthdays and graduations to weddings. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting smells of doughnuts, buns, jelly rolls, lefse, cookies, and bars, all made with love and generously shared.
Mildred was also an avid gardener who took great pride in tending her flower beds and growing her own vegetables. Much of what she grew was used to prepare family meals or was carefully canned for later use. Her homemade dill pickles, in particular, graced many holiday tables and were a family favorite.
In 1997, Mildred and Clifford moved to Falun Township in rural Roseau County to be closer to her sister, two brothers, and their families.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly Kalinowski; her granddaughter, Christina (Jim) Koncker; her grandson, Andrew Kalinowski; her brother, Eugene (Martha) Krzoska; her sister-in-law, Martha Krzoska; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Regina Krzoska; her husband, Clifford Brosdahl; her sister, Mary Mattson; her brother, William Krzoska; and her son-in-law, Tim Kalinowski.
Mildred’s warmth, generosity, and loving spirit will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in God’s eternal peace.
