Michael S. Powers

Michael Powers passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND on May 20, 2023 at the age of 52.

Michael Shawn Powers was born December 24, 1970 in Redman, OR to Michael J. and Beverly (Freeman) Powers. He was born and raised in Oregon and married his wife Terri (Lewis) on June 15, 1991 at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, MN. They had two children – Brian and Beverly.  He retired from Polaris after working there for 28 yrs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being with his grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his wife Terri; children Brian (Alicia), and Beverly (Jacob Torkelson) Powers; father Michael (Vickie), grandchildren Brian Powers Jr., Jason Evans, and Edward and David Torkelson; and 3 step-sisters.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly; grandmother, Ione (Muirhead) Freeman; grandfather Vernon Freeman; father-in-law Edward Urtel; father-in-law Julius Lewis, Jr.; grandmother Alice Kezar; uncles Chris Freeman and Leon Dwitt; aunt Lavone (Vicki) Dwitt; uncle Philip Kentner; cousins Shayne Burris and Ricci Terrill; nephew Vernon Freeman.

A Graveside service for Michael S. Powers will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 2:30PM at Viking Cemetery in Viking, MN. 

There will be a gathering after the burial at Gordon and Tammy's farm for friends and family.
