Mary Rogers Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Rogers passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday May 18, 2022 at Roseau Manor.  She was 77.

Mary was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Harold Fonzo and Mary Charlene (Douglas) Rogers on March 1, 1945.  Mary and her parents moved from Missouri to Greenfield, TN when she was 2. She grew up in Greenfield and Covington, TN and attended Byars-Hall High School.   Her first job was at the Federal Pacific Electric Company.   She was married for 10 years before going to Arnold’s Beauty School in Milan, TN with her sister Jean and was a cosmetologist for approximately 20 years in Decatur, GA.

After she retired she lived with her oldest son, Chadd T. Vinson for many years.  She enjoyed thrift store shopping and weekly bus trips to the Casino with friends.  Mary was a sweet soul that loved life, and was full of spunk and spirit.  She had a great fondness for animals and would light up anytime a puppy was around.  She was rarely seen without one of her signature hats that always got her compliments wherever her travels took her.  After moving to Roseau, MN  in August 2015 to be close to her daughter Kris Ostby she enjoyed art; Bingo; Wii Bowling; Chinese food and her occasional trip to Seven Clans in Warroad.

She will be missed by her children: son,  Chadd T. Vinson of Hinton, WV;  daughter, Kris V. Ostby (Tom) of Roseau, MN; son,  Sean N. Vinson of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren:  Austin Vinson; Tyler Vinson; Johnny ‘Corley’ Cothran III; Zachary T. Cothran; Noah G. Stuebgen; Parker J. Stuebgen; step grandchildren: Nicholas Ostby (Morgan) ; Carlie D. Ostby; Hayley A. Ostby; great grandchildren: Alayna K. Thomas-Cothran; Beatrice M. Rittenhouse-Stuebgen; Ariya F. Smith-Cothran; Azaliyah G. Cothran; sister Shirley Harrington-Dildine (Harvey) of McKenzie, TN; brother Ron Rogers of  San Benito, TX;  many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Mary (Douglas) Rogers; sisters Jean Beckett and Alice Parham.

Mary’s ashes will be delivered to her oldest son Chadd.  Arrangements are to be determined.
