Mary Lorraine (Lease) Johnson

Mary L. Johnson,78, Roseau, formerly of Salol, MN passed away December 23, 2023.

Mary grew up on a farm by Goodridge, MN, the daughter of Henry and Blenda Lease. She attended Goodridge School. On April 20, 1966, Mary married Stanley Johnson from Gatzke, MN; they raised 2 children, Bobby Johnson and Susan Johnson. They lived on a farm by Gatzke. Mary was a wife and Mom and loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and trapping. Later, Mary worked for Marvin Windows in Warroad, MN. In her retirement, she lived on a farm in Salol, MN, with a special friend, Lawernce Brosious. In October 2020, she had brain surgery. Lawrence passed away in December of 2020. After the surgery, she became a resident of Roseau Manor until her death.

Mary is survived by her daughter Susan Johnson of Houston, TX; sisters Joyce Holt of East Bethel, MN, Diane of Houston, TX, and Karen Lease of Sydney, Australia; niece Jessica Hebert of Portland, ME; nephew Brian Lease; niece Jody Lease of the Minneapolis area; and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Johnson; son, Bobby Johnson; special friend, Lawrence Brosious; brothers Roger, Larry, Darrel, Robert, Richard, Kenny, and David Lease; sister, Margaret Lease; nephews, Darren and Kevin Holt; and parents Henry and Blenda Lease.

A graveside service will be held later this spring at Landstead Cemetery near Gatzke, MN.
