Marlan Warne passed away on March 30, 2021 at the age of 79.

Marlan Roger Warne was born September 30, 1941, to Raymond and Alpha Warne. He grew up on a farm near Grygla where they raised and milked Guernsey cattle, hay, and some grain. His dad started a small bottled milk and cream business which supplied the Grygla community, so Marlan had a lot of chores to help with. Marlan started his education at a small country school which transitioned to the Grygla Elementary School. He attended Goodridge High School and played on the Huskies football team. He graduated in 1959.

Marlan was united in marriage to Margaret Kasprick on October 19, 1903, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Badger, Minnesota. Over the years, they lived near Thief River Falls, MN; Gilby, ND; Killeen, TX near Fort Hood; Racine, WI; and Strathcona, MN; where they bought a farm (Marlan's dream come true) in 1976 and raised hogs, beef cattle, hay, small grains, soybeans, and some edible beans. He also worked at Polaris Industries for 20 years and retired in 2004. Marlan was drafted into the Army February 1966 and was honorably discharged February 1968. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and spent six weeks at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. Then, he returned to Fort Hood until discharged. Marlan was proud to serve his country.

Marlan enjoyed farming, hunting, golfing, fishing, and dancing. He loved sports, especially football and baseball. He played for the Grygla baseball team and even coached the Grasslake 4-H softball team a few years. He loved visiting with friends and family get-togethers. Marlan also played a key role in getting the Benwood Community Center established and served as the president for three years.

Marlan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret; his three children - Marian (Teresa) Warne, Jr. of Moorhead, MN, Pamela (James) Jubie of Warren, MN, and Ryan Warne of Strathcona, MN. Marlan has six grandchildren - Amanda Warne, Noah Jubie, Ash Warne, Erin Jupie, Lynsey Warne, and Jesse Warne. Also surviving are six of his siblings - Janice Delong of Goodridge, MN; Lyle (Linda) Warne of Groveland, FL; Wayne (Sandy) Warne of Grygla, MN, Russell (Pauline) Warne of Bushnell, FL, Sandra (Lloyd) Dunham of Wannaska, MN; and Dale (Sherry) Warne of Roseau, MN. Marlan was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Gayle Warne, and many uncles, aunts, and nephews.
