There is no grief without love. On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the world grew a little dimmer and heaven a bit brighter with the passing of Marjorie (Marge) Przekwas. Marge was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, companion, and a teacher in many ways.
Marge had many passions and was a woman of faith, trusting in her Lord in both good times and bad. She took immense pride in her husband, children, and grandchildren, supporting them in their life paths with unwavering love.
Marjorie Delores Zak was born on Thursday, September 10, 1928, at 10 A.M. to Anna (Krzoska) and Frank Zak in Roseau, Minnesota. Marge was baptized and confirmed at St. Phillips Church in Falun, Minnesota, in June 1940. The family resided and farmed in Malung Township, where she attended Brandt School until the eighth grade. Marge loved to read and continued to self-educate throughout her life. In 1944, her family moved northwest of Roseau, in Jadis Unorganized Township.
Marjorie worked on the family farm, helping her father with custom combining and other daily chores. In 1946, she relocated to Kittson County, working as a receptionist for Dr. Mead in Hallock, MN. The following year, she began working at Kiene Farms, Inc. in Kennedy, MN, as an assistant cook and housekeeper.
Marjorie met her future husband, Frank Andrew Przekwas, while working at Kiene Farms. After a two-year relationship, they married on November 22, 1950, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseau, Minnesota. The couple welcomed seven children: Bob, Jeff, Dean, Dale, Shar, Gary, and Ann. Her beloved husband Frank passed away in September 1986 at the age of 63.
Marge and Frank lived in Ray, North Dakota, for several years while Frank worked in the oil fields. In 1957, they relocated to Roseau County, purchasing a farm in Jadis Township and together, building a diversified farm operation, including beef, chickens, hogs, and mink, along with a small grain operation over the years.
Marjorie began working at Polaris Industries-Roseau in 1966, undertaking various roles, including welding, assembly, operating milling machines and turning lathes for almost twelve years. She also worked at Marvin Windows in Warroad, MN, for two years, and spent twenty-two years of employment at Eventide Senior Living in Roseau, MN, until it closed in 2002, retiring at the age of 74.
Marjorie was active in her community, serving in the VFW Auxiliary, the Roseau Eagles, and as a 4-H Adult Leader. She dedicated her time and efforts to her church and community.
Marjorie loved life. She enjoyed fishing, especially with her family, snowmobiling, and even participated in numerous snowmobile races, winning several Powder Puff races. An avid sports fan, she attended many events of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a proud American, deeply appreciative of the military service of her husband Frank (U.S. Navy), son-in-law Leland (U.S. Army), eldest grandson Michael (U.S. Navy), and youngest grandson Cody (U.S. Custom Border Patrol).
Her laughter, joke-telling, and love for playing games and cards will be cherished memories. The Przekwas home was always open to anyone needing a hug, coffee, a meal, or a place to stay. Marge's cooking, sewing, and gardening were legendary, especially her dill pickles and popcorn balls. In the summer of 2022, she moved to LifeCare Greenbush Manor in Greenbush, Minnesota.
Marjorie is survived by her children: Robert (Carmen) Przekwas, Jeffrey (Minda) Przekwas, Dean Przekwas, Dale Przekwas, Sharlene (Leland) Peterson, Gary Przekwas, and Ann (Robbi) Peterson.
