Margaret Elizabeth Hedlund (Peggy) passed away on August 2, 2023 at LifeCare Manor in Roseau at the age of 75.

Peggy was born on July 9,1948 in Roseau MN to Barney and Louise Ross. She was one of five siblings. Peggy graduated from Roseau High School in 1966. While attending Roseau High School she met Carson Hedlund. Carson and Peggy sat next to each other in Band. Peggy asked Carson to be her “date” at a Sadie Hawkins dance and the rest is history when they married on June 24, 1967. Carson and Peggy were blessed with 3 children, Craig, Sandy and Marc and they just celebrated 56 years of marriage!

After High School, she attended the Interstate Business college in Fargo and then went on to work at Concordia College as a secretary while Carson finished senior year. They lived in Foley, MN for two years before moving back to Roseau for a short period of time. Carson was drafted into the Army and later deployed to Germany. Peggy and her young son traveled to Germany where they spent about 6 months before coming back to Roseau permanently. Peggy was a stay at home mom with all 3 kids until her youngest started school. She then went to work at the Roseau School District as a secretary in the High School Principal’s office. She loved being around all the kids, the fast paced environment and the hustle and bustle of the athletic department. She retired after 30+ years in 2012.

Peggy was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseau. She enjoyed watching hockey, having coffee with her friends (especially “foo-foo” coffee), shopping, going on walks and crocheting/knitting. The light of her life were her kids and her grandkids, she would have a glimmer in her eye whenever they were around.

Peggy is survived by her husband: Carson Hedlund; children Craig (Heather) Hedlund, Sandy (Lonny) Stavig, Marc (Tara) Hedlund; grandchildren Justin Hedlund, Mercedes Stavig, Hailey Hedlund, Kelsey Hedlund, Annabelle Hedlund, Ivy Hedlund and 1 great grandchild, Ryder. Her sister Diane (Vern) Korb, brothers Don (Mary) Ross, Gary (Kathy) Ross, sister in laws Bev Hedlund and Pam Nelson and brother in law Arlie Braunberger.
