A Memorial Service for Margaret A. Olson, 82, of Roseau, MN, will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home of Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Margaret Ann Olson, age 82, passed away on Tuesday. April 14th at Roseau LifeCare Manor after a long battle with brain cancer.
Margaret was born in Roseau to Arthur and Evelyn (Olson) Wensloff on December 8th, 1943.
She grew up on the family farm south of Roseau alongside her 7 brothers and 1 sister. She graduated from Roseau H.S. in 1961. On July 9, 1966, she married James Olson and moved to Southern California where they raised their 2 children. Margaret worked as an elementary school librarian, was a dedicated church choir member and kept busy tending to her many flower beds. In 2001 James and Margaret retired from their jobs and left the big city life to return to their roots in Roseau. There Margaret was involved in Garden Club, bowling league, Home Makers and a board member at the Four Seasons Center. She took great pride in her flowers and had 1 of the prettiest yards in town. People were always stopping to compliment and take pictures. Margaret was known for remembering every family member’s birthday by sending a birthday card to all. She sent out an estimated 100 cards each year!
Margaret is survived by; her children Susanne and Jon Olson; grandchildren, Tucker, Temperance and Brooke; brothers Dale (Donna), David, Joel (Debbie), Roland (June), Erling (Val) Brian (Wanda) Wensloff
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband James, parents Arthur and Evelyn, an infant sister, brother John Wensloff and sister Diane Mellstrom.
