Manijeh (Mani) Nicole Starren was born May 23, 1989, weighing 9lb 11oz, to Marvin and Ricki Starren in Roseau, Minnesota. Mani was found an angel on June 28, 2023.
Mani went to grade school and high school in Roseau. She participated in Girl Scouts, was on the swim team, and was in track. Mani went to Badger for her junior and senior years of high school and graduated in 2008. Following high school, she took some general classes at Northland College in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Two years ago Mani decided to continue her education and took classes in St. Paul. She was so proud of herself when she made the Dean’s list, as were all of us! Further schooling was put on hold for the time being until Axel started kindergarten.
Mani was baptized and confirmed by Pastor Joe. She grew up going to the Roseau Covenant Church. She loved going to Bluewater Bible Camp and was involved in youth group.
When Mani was in high school she worked at Wally’s Supermarket and then worked as a CNA which seemed to be her calling. She then worked at a group home and was a home health aide. She absolutely loved working with Arne Isane.
Mani was married to Brody Bulow for a short time. She had two children with Brody, Colbie (12) and Titan (8). She had one child with Shane, Axel (4). Mani’s children were the loves of her life! Growing up Mani and her brother, Noah, were like best friends. She loved her little brother so much!
Mani loved hunting, fishing, camping, skating, swimming, and water skiing. She had a knack for and enjoyed decorating. She was very organized and a “clean freak”. Mani also loved thrift shopping. She learned she didn’t have to spend much to have nice things and was looking forward to teaching that to Colbie.
Mani never saw anyone as ugly. She always found the good and beautiful person that was inside everyone she ever met. She had the ability to make friends anywhere she went! Anytime she would see a homeless person or someone who needed help, she would always give at least a dollar. Mani was so soft and kind-hearted that way. She will be missed beyond words and is loved more than she will ever know!
Mani is survived by her parents, Marvin and Ricki Starren; her brother, Noah Starren (Keandra); her children, Colbie and Titan Bulow, and Axel Scherven; Uncle Rich Baehr (Rusty); and Grandma Shelby Baehr; as well as other aunts and uncles: Ronnie Starren (Darlene), Molly Bicker (Bob), Carol Olson (Gayle), Delores Carlson (Kevin), Donald Starren (Brenda), Maylin Starren (Bekky); many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mani was preceded in death by her grandpa, Richard Baehr; grandparents, Adeline and Anselm Starren; and father-in-law, John Bulow.
Mani’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau on October 7, 2023 at 10:30am. Pastor Mitch Haaby will be officiating. Please dress casual: wear tie dyed shirts or purple, if you have it, in honor of Mani!
Our family would like to thank Sergeant Laurie Finnegan and her team for the relentless process of finding Mani. We will be forever grateful! A special thank you for Bre and Brandon Lawson for all of the help and everything you have done. And thank you to all our family and friends for all of the love, support, donations, and prayers! It means more than we can simply put into words! Please let Mani’s memory live on in a positive loving way!
