A Memorial Service for Lynn M. Furbish of Baudette, MN will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Williams, MN. Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery in Williams, MN.
Lynn Margaret (Sonstegard) Furbish was born on September 7, 1962 in Baudette, Minnesota to Grace (Wilson) and Edward Sonstegard. She grew up in Baudette and attended Lake of the Woods High School, as a member of the class of 1981.
On March 14, 1981, Lynn married the one and only love of her life, Ted Furbish, and they began their life together. To this union, two children were born: a daughter, Jamie Lynn, in November 1980 and a son, Joshua Michael, in October 1982. With the addition of their two children, the family was complete.
Over the course of her years raising children and working, Lynn always found time for significant involvement in her hometown community and surrounding areas. She was an avid women’s league bowler for years while her kids were young, as well as being extremely active in Women of Today in Baudette. During her time spent in Women of Today, she held many different offices, and was an integral part of planning the town’s fourth of July celebration for many years. Additionally, she also spent several years coaching the competition cheerleading team, which went to the national competition three times.
In 2001, her first grandchild was born, and from this great event, she found a new purpose in life. Lynn lived for her children and grandchildren, taking extra time to make even the smallest of moments extra special for each of them. Countless hours were spent, and an endless amount of miles were traveled, to enjoy time with her growing family unit.
Lynn found great joy in the floral business she owned and operated for more than 20 years. Throughout the time she was the local florist, she brightened the days of so many people, and her floral creations were enjoyed and appreciated by not only their recipients, but those sending them as well. Repurposing “all the things” she would stumble upon became an all consuming passion for this talented, creative woman.
After having overcome a cancer diagnosis in 2004, and remaining in remission for nearly 18 years, Lynn was again diagnosed with cancer on March 7, 2022. Her spirits remained high throughout the brief, but difficult time. Her favorite and number 1 caregiver, husband Ted, remained by her side through each bump in the short road, until her journey came to an end on March 14, 2022, when Lynn passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
In addition to her husband of 41 years, Ted, Lynn is survived by her children: Jamie (Robbie) Johnson, of Baudette, Minnesota, and Josh (Mindy) Furbish, of Plymouth, Minnesota; her mother, Grace Sonstegard, of Baudette, Minnesota; grandchildren: Sydney Hufnagle of Baudette, Minnesota, Jackson and Eva Johnson of Baudette, Minnesota, Maizley and Juno Furbish of Plymouth, Minnesota. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Dorothy Sylvester, of Harpswell, Maine, and father-in-law, Randall Furbish, of Topsham, Maine; as well as sister, Debbie Criscione, of Seattle, Washington; brothers-in-law: Dave (Judy) Furbish of Cumming, Georgia, James (Cheryl) Furbish of Phoenix, Arizona, and Gary Furbish of Atlanta, Georgia. Additional survivors include numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ed; brother, Mark; maternal grandparents, Leon and Elvira Wilson; paternal grandparents, John and Mildred Sonstegard; and very special cousin, Jackie Senkyr.
