Lucille Skogstad

A Funeral Service for Lucille O. Skogstad of Roseau, MN will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 1:00PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Pinecreek Cemetery in Roseau, MN. 

Lucille O. Skogstad was born on November 4, 1935 to Howard and Iris (Fauver) Hendershot in Beaver Township by Hayes Lake. She grew up attending local country schools and then Roseau High School. Lucille married Willie Skogstad on February 20, 1953 in Roseau, MN. The couple move to the farm where they raised Dairy Cattle and farmed small grains. Lucille had a strong work ethic and was a major part of the farm operation, even more so when Willie got a job with Roseau County and she was the mainstay on the farm. She was a terrific homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning, picking blueberries, crocheting and especially making Lefse. She also enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling when time allowed. Lucille was an active member in Pinecreek Lutheran Church where she had been baptized and confirmed in her younger years, she was involved with the ladies aide, she also taught Sunday and Bible school. She was a very involved parent in 4H. Lucille involved herself within the Senior Companion Program where she provided companionship to elders in need. Most of all she loved visiting and doing activities with family and friends. Lucille moved to Roseau in 2003 and spent the last two years of her live in LifeCare Roseau Manor where she loved doing activities and received excellent care while living there. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Skogstad; brothers, Philip and Maynard Hendershot; sister, Dorothy Herling; half-sister, Fayola Pellowski; brothers and sisters-inlaw.

Lucille is survived by her children, Stuart Skogstad of Roseau, MN, Marie (Jim) Fournier of Moorhead, MN; beloved granddaughter, Erin (Alex) Rouland of Thief River Falls, MN, great-grandchildren, Brooke, Aubrey, and Luke Rouland; sister-inlaw, Rita Hendershot of Williston, Vermont; as well as numerous other family and friends.
