Loren Craig Swanson, age 62 of Roseau, MN passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family April 18, 2020.

Loren was born March 20, 1958 in Thief River Falls, MN to Darlene and Irving Swanson. He was the youngest of four siblings. Loren attended school in Thief River Falls. In 1985, he obtained a certificate in Automotive Technology from the Automotive Vocational Technical Institute. His love for mechanics started as a young boy, working countless hours on go-carts in is neighbor’s garage. It did not stop there, from go-carts, snowmobiles, vehicles, and his collection of lawn mowers, he never lost his passion for mechanics and how things work.

Loren worked various jobs throughout his lifetime. His first job was at speeds gas station where even the people would bring their cars there for him to fix. Loren worked at Polaris industries as a welder for 21 years leading up to an accident in 2012 where he was no longer able to work.

He enjoyed hunting, sports (especially hockey), time at the cabin, but more than anything he loved being with his family.

Loren had such a heart for everyone who knew him and would give him or her everything he had to help them. His greatest accomplishment was his boys. He devoted his life to his son’s and would always talk highly of them.

In his last years Loren’s youngest son Justin, quit work to care for his dad at home. Loren continued to light up the room and always gave the best hugs.

All who knew of Loren will always remember him for his caring, adventurous, exceptional giving heart.

Loren is survived by sons, Jeremy (Jennifer) Swanson, Jasen (Collette) Swanson, and Justin (Amanda) Swanson. Grandchildren: Keith, Kara, Jayden, Kyla, Gavyn, Cyerra, Kaitlynn, Emelia, and Bentley. Sister Marsha Quigley and Brother Lee Swanson. He was proceeded in death by his parents Irving and Darlene Swanson, his brother Larry Swanson and man’s best friend “Buddy”.

Loren was loved by all who knew him; his hard work ethic, kindness, and his love for his family will always be cherished.

A special thank you to all the staff that loved and cared for him while he lived at the Roseau Manor; Amanda was his favorite.
