Linda Gail Johnson lost her battle with Glioblastoma, a terminal brain cancer, at her home in Leavenworth, Kansas on March 13, 2022, surrounded by her family. Her never-ending faith in the Lord was her driving force in life. She made the most out of what God had given her and lived by the motto, “It could always be worse!”
Linda was born January 18, 1954, in Washington DC to Dwayne and Geraldine Butler. As a military child, Linda moved a lot and the family settled in Baudette in the late 60’s. She graduated from Williams High School in 1972 and married Ronald R. Johnson. From this union came three children; Robert, Traci and Katherine. Linda and Ron lived in various locations over their 23 years of marriage but settled in Roosevelt, Minnesota until 1995. She later lived on the Iron Range and in Newel, South Dakota before making Leavenworth her home.
Linda worked at a variety of places over her lifetime including; Marvin Windows and Doors, Lake Street Floral and the Blue Line Diner. She enjoyed her vegetable gardens and being able to prepare and preserve what they produced, but her flower gardens were her showpiece. She purchased local flower and bird books every place she lived, knowing not only their common names but species names as well.
Linda’s grandkids were her pride and joy. Whether it was having moon parties, playing hide-n-seek, working in the garden, bird watching, going to concerts or various sports activities, she enjoyed every minute with them!
Linda is survived by her children: Rob (Brooke) Johnson of Roseau, Minnesota, Traci Grondahl of Leavenworth, Kansas and Katie (Nick) Dall of Easton, Kansas; grandchildren Bryce Grondahl, Karlee Grondahl, Emma Boris, Abby Boris, Garrett Dall, Olivia Grondahl, Ella Dall and and Keane Johnson; mother Geraldine Anderson; sister Sandra Demary; step-mom Judy Butler and many nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her father Dwayne Butler and sisters Judy and Janet.
Funeral services will be held at the Community Church in Williams, MN on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Williams, MN at a later date.
