Larry Gene Phillips was born on May 20, 1957 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Larry B. Phillips and Ilene (Kittell) Phillips. They moved to Baudette, Minnesota when he was a child and he lived there most of his life. Larry proudly served in the United States Army and Army Reserve from January 7, 1976 to May 8, 1987, when he was honorably discharged (SGT Co B 367th Engr Bn). Larry was married to Terri Grund in 1979 and they had two children together, Michelle and Tony. They later divorced but remained lifelong friends. Larry dedicated over 25 years working at Rowell Laboratories/Solvay Pharmacueticals, where he also met some of his many friends.

Larry is survived by his children, Michelle (Chris) Hoppe, Tony (Kim) Phillips, grandchildren, Kiersten Hoppe, Kellen Hoppe and Jackson Bessler, niece and nephews, Jessamy Stallman, Aaron Stallman, Ben Stallman, Michael Anderson, and Travis Anderson, brother, Steven Phillips, great nieces and nephews, Ronnie Stallman and Ulric Pickar, and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Anthony Phillips and his sister Cheryl (Phillips) Anderson.

Larry passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 4, 2026 after facing lung cancer with courage and strength.

Larry will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, always remembering birthdays, his smile, always showing us how grateful he was, and also -- his stubbornness. We will miss him forever.
