Kevin Joel Bergeron

Kevin Joel Bergeron passed away unexpectedly while working in the yard on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at his home in Warroad at the age of 64. 

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 12:00 (noon) at the Helgeson’s Funeral Home in Warroad with visitation two hours prior to the services with Rev. Marilyn Grafstom presiding.

Kevin was born to Vern and Eva Mae (Theroux) Bergeron of Oklee, MN on March 4th, 1959.   His family home was in Oklee until he graduated from Oklee High School in 1977. He then moved to Thief River Falls, MN to attend the AVTI where he earned a carpentry degree in 1979.

After graduating from the AVTI Kevin worked at Thorstad Construction, based out of Morris, MN building grain elevators.  He later moved to Iowa and worked for Ranco Company as a welder.  He recently retired from Polaris after 28 years in the welding department working his way up to a robotics editor.  While at Polaris he was very proud of his near perfect attendance record.  Up until the time of his passing he was working for Praire Community Services doing part time maintenance.

After the birth of Kevin’s two boys, Joel and Jace, and after the end of his first marriage Kevin reunited with his high school sweetheart, Diane, in 1995 and relocated to Warroad where Diane resided with her three children, Grant, Randi and Jared.  Diane and Kevin blended their families in 1996 and later added their son, Ty.  Kevin was proud of all their children and especially enjoyed being a Grandpa. 

Kevin enjoyed watching all their children play sports.  He was an avid football and hockey fan and especially enjoyed being a “Hockey Dad” for close to 20 years.  He was a loyal MN Vikings fan no matter how many times they disappointed him. He enjoyed deer hunting in the fall and ice fishing in the winter.  He loved spending time at his hunting cabin near Williams year round.  Kevin was known for his love of sitting hours and hours enjoying a campfire with his drink of choice.  In the summer he also kept very busy with his large garden, making jars and jars of salsa, and he loved to share his produce with any and everyone he could. 

Kevin was a hard worker and took pride in all of his projects while utilizing his carpentry skills. 

Kevin is survived by his wife, Diane of 27 years, along with their children Joel Bergeron (Andrea) of Lakefield, MN, Grant Paquin (CJ Dombroskie) of Pensacola, FL, Randi Rantanen (Arne) of Thief River Falls, MN, Jace Bergeron (Angela Williams) of Fargo, ND, Jared Paquin (Ashley Auerbach) of San Antonio, TX, Ty Bergeron (Kayla Melhorn) of Warroad.  Along with 11 grandchildren, Raiden, Emma, Ryker, Lennix, Treyton, Jax, Conner, Ashton, Sawyer, Evelyn and Oliver.

Kevin is also survived by his siblings Mary Kay (Robert) Lindquist, Char (Rick) Brekken, Renee Bergeron-Granger (Adam), JoAnne Church, Frank Bergeron, Jane (Joe) Berryhill and Carol Bergeron.  He is further survived by sister-in laws Lynn Gallant (Roger), Susie Zimpel, Nancy Bray (Tom) and brother-in- law John Zimpel, along with many neices, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by this parents, brother-in-law Bill Church, nephews Adam Larson and Marc Church, special friends Jerome Ruby and Vern Losse.
