Kenneth Leverne Brateng

Kenneth Brateng formerly of Wannaska, MN passed away on November 28, 2023 at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau surrounded by his family.

Kenneth Leverne Brateng was born on February 19, 1934 in Roseau, MN to Henry and Myra (Christianson) Brateng. After graduating high school Kenny joined the Army. On June 9, 1957 he married Joann Tapa at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime. Kenny worked as a farmer doing dairy and other types of farming. He was an active member of the Linsell Town Board and the Bethesda Church Council.

Kenny’s hobbies included logging along with sawmill operation. He also loved to people watch.

He is survived by his children Joanneth (Harry) Hamilton, Kamella (Stuart) Hamilton, Kathleen Stavenes, Jameson (Tami) Brateng, Kristopher Brateng, Jodelle (Troy) Champlin; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Myra; wife, Joann; daughter Jennifer Shepard; sister Mava Karlstad; son-in-law Randy Stavenes; daughter-in-law Wendy Sandsmark; and granddaughter Elizabeth Shepard.

A Funeral Service for Kenneth Brateng will be held at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime on December 11, 2023 at 11:00am with a visitation an hour prior. A Visitation will also be held the night before at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau from 5:00-7:00pm with a prayer service starting at 7:00pm. Interment will be held at Bethesda Cemetery.
