Katie Beth Olson

A Memorial Service for Katie Olson of Roseau will be held at the Malung School in Malung on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 11:00am with a visitation an hour prior. 

Katie Beth Olson of St. Paul, MN formerly of Salol, MN passed away May 28, 2023 in St. Paul.  She was born January 25, 1982 in Minot, ND to Julie (Dahlquist) Wahlstrom and Bruce B. Olson.  She graduated from Roseau High School, St. Cloud Model School of Hair Design and Aveda Institute of Minneapolis.  After graduation Katie owned Hair Envy in Roseau until she moved to Burnsville, MN and attended Aveda Institute in Minneapolis where she received her degree in massage therapy.  She later worked for Breaking Free, a non-profit organization where she worked as an advocate for women with conferring issues of substance abuse, violence and homelessness.  She was happiest working with clients’ hair and make-up and her ability to make everyone feel beautiful.  While she struggled with her own self-esteem and loneliness, she made everyone around her feel strong and confident. Katie married Jesse Hendrickson (later divorced) and they had two children, Makenna Elise and Jaxon Sonny.

Katie is survived by her beautiful children Makenna Elise Hendrickson and Jaxon Sonny Hendrickson, her ex-husband Jesse Hendrickson, her parents Julie and Randy Wahlstrom, her brother Sheldon Olson of Farmington, sister Kristie (John) North of Sherburn, MN,  her nieces Raegan Olson and Oakley North and nephew Aven North whom she thought the world of,  her step-mom Clare Olson, grandparents Marilyn Dahlquist and Sheila and Duane Olson, as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, friends and her puppy Murphy who would never leave her side.

Katie is preceded in death by her father Bruce Olson, grandfathers Leland Dahlquist and Ray Olson, and uncle Sheldan Olson.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered “come to me”

With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away.  Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. 

A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.
