Karen Lousie Zimdars

Karen L. Zimdars passed away on May 1, 2023 at her home in Warroad at the age of 65.

A Memorial Service for Karen Zimdars will be held at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 2:00pm with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will be held at Bethesda  Cemetery.

Karen Louise Zimdars was born on January 22, 1958 to Harland and Louise (Hamann) Zimdars in Wadena, MN, the second of six children. The family moved throughout her childhood to Fergus Falls, MN,  Waubun, MN, and later to Skime, MN in 1976. Karen graduated from Grygla High School and from Wadena Area Vocational Technical Institute with a clerical degree before starting her 40+ year career at Marvin Windows in Warroad, MN. She retired in 2020 due to health reasons.

Karen liked reading, walking, crocheting and sewing. She made several pillow quilts for family members and friends. She also liked making her famous peanut butter cups for family and friends.

Karen is survived by siblings, Kenneth Zimdars of Wannaska, Curtis (Marilyn) Zimdars of Badger, Kathy (Kimm) Larson of Garner, Iowa, Carol Zimdars of Houston, MN, and Pam (Christopher) Bilyeu of St. Cloud, MN; nieces, Ashley (Randy Schwingler) Bilyeu, Kristi Larson; nephew, David (Kirstiane) Bilyeu and her beloved dog, Abby.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; an infant sister; Ray Hewitt (Carol’s fiance’); her beloved dog, Casey; and her beloved cat, Fluffy.
