Joan D Tveit

Joan Tveit passed away at the Warroad Senior Living Center May 29, 2023 at the age of 91.

Joan was born October 8, 1931 to Hokan and Rose Hokanson in Warroad, MN.  Joan lived in the Warroad and Roosevelt areas her whole life.

One of Joan’s grandsons wrote the following piece 20 years ago at the age of 12.  It was a wonderful tribute then and still is today.

“Joan Tveit is a caring person.  She was born October 8, 1931.  She influenced me to have fun and never give up.  Her admirable qualities are that she is nice, she is forgiving, she is diligent, she never gives up and she is hard working.  She had many difficult jobs.  She has worked at the Night Hawk, she was a housewife, did upholstery work and was a volunteer at the Care Center.  Joan has had many accomplishments.  One was that she recovered from a stroke.  She had five kids.  For hobbies she paints pictures, gardens, bakes bread and goes for walks with me.”

Joan will be remembered for her amazing artistry and generosity of sharing her beautiful oil paintings with family and nearly everyone she knew.  Joan loved being in the forest, picking blueberries, picnics and playing scrabble with her friends. 

In Joan’s own words, she stated “I was a jack-of-all-trades, the master of none, although I did a good job at all of them.”

Joan is survived by her sons, Ron (Cathy) Norquist and Bruce (Cindy) Norquist, daughters Laurel (Jim) Gray, Carol (Dean) Knutson and JoAnn Dahlgren, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, sister Donna Seitz and sister-in-law Billie Hokanson.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Hokan Hokanson, brother Don Hokanson, brother-in-law Don Seitz and son-in-law Leonard Dahlgren.

A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
