A Memorial Service for Joan M. Bakke of Warroad, MN will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2:00PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Warroad, MN.
Joan Mae (Ellenson) Bakke, a remarkable soul born in Ross, MN 1940, left this world on October 9, 2023 after a long difficult battle with many health issues including breast cancer. She was a woman of indomitable spirit known for her unwavering faith in the LORD and her deep love for her family.
Joan’s life was marked by her incredible sense of humor, which brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her laughter was infectious, and her wit could turn any moment into a memorable one.
She was a loving and kind presence whose warmth and generosity touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her dedication to her children and grandchildren was boundless, and her love for them was a testament to the enduring power of a mother’s love.
Her legacy is not only one of humor, love, and faith but also a reminder of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in her journey. May her soul rest in peace, knowing that her love and laughter will live on in the cherished memories of all those whose lives she touched. Joan’s life was not only defined by her love for her family but also by her deep and abiding sense of community. She was a dedicated neighbor and friend, always ready to lend a helping hand. Whether it was wallpapering, tending to her garden, or offering a hand in cleaning, Joan’s generosity knew no bounds. Joan’s love for simple pleasures was evident in her fondness for a good cup of hot coffee shared with friends, where conversations flowed freely, and the bonds between them grew stronger. She also had a passion for crossword puzzles, a pastime that allowed her to exercise her mind and provided many hours of enjoyment. Her legacy of kindness, love and community spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to call her a neighbor and friend. Joan’s memory will be forever cherished a beacon of the warmth she brought to the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved children Chad (Paula) Bakke and Kim (Clay)Schulte, her grandchildren, Connor (Izzy) Bakke, Cade (Josee Lundgren) Bakke, Wyatt (Hailey Decker) Fink and Whitney Fink. Sisters Margie Isaacson and Diane (Frank) Arellono, brothers and Donnelly (Joanne)Ellenson, Richard Ellenson and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Bakke; her parents, Lloyd and Esther (Johnson) Ellenson; twin sister Jean (Roger) Christian, infant sister Debbie Ellenson, brothers Laverne Ellenson and Kenneth Ellenson.
Joan’s family would like to thank the Warroad Senior Living Center staff for taking such loving care of her during this difficult time. They were all her “friends”.
