Jerry Modahl

A Funeral Service for Jerry Modahl of Bemidji, MN will be held at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 1:00PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date.

Jerry Modahl, 64, of Bemidji, MN passed away on February 21, 2023 at his residence under the care of hospice.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 24 at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Jerry Wayne Modahl was born July 20, 1958, the son of Carol (Krogstad) and Jon Modahl in Roseau, MN. He was baptized at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Badger, MN.

Throughout his years, Jerry worked all of his life at the DAC. He retired from the DAC following the COVID outbreak in 2020.

Jerry was a very loving person. He loved being with people. He loved giving and receiving hugs. He loved the outdoors, camping and hotdogs. He loved books and magazines and going on bus rides. He loved farm animals and dogs, especially Scooby Doo. But most of all Jerry loved the holiday, especially Christmas. Halloween was a close second. For him those were the most joyous times of the year. 

He was our Forever Child.

Jerry is survived by his siblings Debra (Tim) Modahl-Keefe of St. Hilaire, MN and Bryan (Christine) Modahl of Badger, MN; nephews Kyle Keefe and Ryan (Maria) Modahl; nieces Tasha (Daniel) Seydel, Mariah (Colton) Modahl and great nephew and nieces Avery, Everlee, Ivy and Ruby. He is also survived by his aunt and uncles Charmaine Lorenson, Lew and Rosemary Modahl, Terry and Ida Modahl, and Joile and Joyce Hulst; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by both parents; aunts and uncles Renae and Roger Olberg, Eldor Lorenson, Merlin and Jim Krogstad.
